1. Would you be interested in visiting this exhibit? Why or why not?
-Yes id be very interested in attending mostly due to the fact that i find virtual reality to be quite awesome and exciting, but now even more so that we are looking through the scared eyes of a illegal immigrant that has been caught. 2. Have you tried any Virtual Reality products before? -Yes I have, I own a virtual reality set that I can use with my phone, I've also used the Occulis Rift at the Vancouver tech summit as well. 3. What elements of the exhibit makes the journey of the migrant real? -your barefoot with other immigrants around you with a child crying out all while border patrol is pointing guns at you and yelling out commands. 4. Do you think this is an effective way to build empathy for others, to "walk a mile in their shoes"? (EMPATHY = the ability to understand and share feelings of another) -I think its a great way to build empathy for illegal immigrants to see what they go through, but at the same time they are committing illegal activity so some of it could be considered justified. 5. If you had the chance to design an exhibit like this, what topic would you choose? You might choose something related to a current or historical event, a mental illness, bullying - anything that you think people don't truly understand what it's like to live through. -maybe id make one on navy seal training due to it being so intense, i feel like it would be cool to experience that in VR.

What is Tristan's main point in his talk? Do you agree or disagree with him?
-That tech companies should incorporate a relationship with technology that gives us back choice about how we spend time with it. Download CHECKY on to your phone and chart your activity for one week. -phone is taken away at this current time so i cannot chart my activity. if you have any questions on the matter feel free to email my mother [email protected] What do you know about data on social media sites and its permanence? What does the article suggest about how your deleted data is stored?
- Have you ever taken a personality quiz through Facebook? Did you allow it to post on your news feed?
-Yes, I've taken a couple of them and posted them. How much did you know about this already? How do you feel about what's been happening? -I knew nothing about this before reading the article. How I feel is wronged that people are being tricked into having their info stolen through fun little quizzes. How should people's data from Facebook, Google (email or searches), Amazon (purchases and searches) be handled? What would you suggest governments put in place to protect you? Try to think of 3 things. - What would you miss most if you lived without modern technology for a week?
-I would definitely miss my phone the most, due to the sheer convenience of it. If I want to meet up friends I can just call or text them. If I'm bored at home I can watch Netflix or YouTube or even play games on it. Its just so convenient! How would you react if you went home and your parents decided to do this for a year? -Not going to lie, I'd definitely be kind of mad but I don't have to worry about this happening considering the fact that they are on their electronics more than I am. What is the longest you think you could live without 2018 technology? -Not long at all, maybe a week tops. It would be difficult though as my generation has grown up using it. What are the biggest benefits of this experiment, in your opinion? Name 3. 1. It shows the kids how their parents grew up without the help of current electronics so they might gain more respect and appreciation for their parents. 2. It teaches the kids that there is so much more to do in life rather than sitting behind a screen for the whole thing. 3. It takes the parents back to their roots. Some nostalgia is good every now and then. How many things that you used this week would not have been available in 1986? -Way to much to count lol. Had you heard about Russian bots before? What did you know before you read the article?
-No I had not heard of Russian bots before reading this article. What is the main goal of the bots? -The main goal is to defend against, deter, and raise costs on Russian and other actors efforts to undermine democracy and democratic institutions. What is the danger of the bots? Tell me about 3 negative effects. -They can divide America into factions causing turmoil in the main cities. -They undermine the American Government and make them look weak, causing people to lose faith. -It could cause a rebellion or even worse a full on civil war in America which would devastate the states. Why do you think people would spread misinformation and want to divide people? -I personally believe that the reason these bots are programed to spread this misinformation is to change the minds and views of others. For example someone that is pro guns might see all these bots and their views could in fact change from that to wanting gun restrictions as well. Have you heard about any solutions to this problem? Can you think of any? -I have not heard of any solutions but one that I can think of is that people need to become more educated on the fact that there is in fact fake news out there and they need to learn not to believe everything they see or read on the internet and even in some cases the TV. Do you believe technology is a problem for our society? Is it a challenge for you? -I believe that we let technology become a problem in our lives. Human nature seeks out the need to release dopamine which is a drug that our brain releases to give us pleasure and happiness, and for many people they seek that out through the use of technology. So no, I believe that technology is not the problem and human nature is to blame for this huge controversy over tech. No it is not a problem for me due to the fact that I'm able to put my phone away to eat dinner with my family, keep it away during most conversations, as well as keep it away from my bed at night time. What problems concern you the most? -The one problem that concerns me the most is parents introducing their children to technology at such early ages. Introducing young children impacts their abilities to socialize in person with other people which will be detrimental effect on our society in the future. What rules (if any) do your parents give you about using technology? -There is really only one rule and that is get all chores done first. If/when you are a parent, what rules would you have for your children (if any)? -I would implicate the same rule that my parents have on myself. Are you concerned about the direction technology is taking us? Why or why not? -As technology advances our social skills become worse and worse. A study shows that we are reverting back to the cavemen days with how we communicate now. Thousands of years ago the human race had communicated through the use of pictures and we are slowly heading to that point of dialect due to emoji's. My only concern for the future of tech is our inevitable lack of proper writing. Which solution would you try for a week and why?
-I'd try going up and talking to someone or calling them on the phone rather than texting. |
